We are Conservatives and we do not wish to charge a penny more tax than is needed to deliver the services you value. Times are hard for household budgets and we want to do more to give back to Kingston residents. Our ambition will always be to deliver Council Tax reductions but we will at least ensure that there is no real terms increase in Council Tax over the next four years.

We will be offering a single person Council Tax discount to those homes who have a carer in them — identified by those homes who are in receipt of Carer’s Allowance — and for those young people leaving care.

The Kingston Card

We will introduce a new digital card (or a more conventional card for those who cannot access it digitally). Kingston is a magnet for visitors with over 17m people visiting Kingston town centre alone. We believe that as Kingston residents pay for the services of the Borough they should also receive wider benefits for the Council Tax they pay.

The card will provide the following initial services

  • Parking discounts
  • Leisure centre and sports facility discounts
  • Shopping discounts with local retailers

In time the digital card will enable residents to Report, Reply, Request, Consult or Assist a range of services provided by the Council and other public services. We will also hold discussions with the Kingston Pound on how we might start to see this initiative spread more widely through the Kingston Card App.
